Founded in 1855 as the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan, MSU was the first of its kind in the United States. The university's six professional schools include the College of Law, Eli Broad College of Business, the College of Nursing, the College of Osteopathic Medicine, the College of Human Medicine, and the College of Veterinary Medicine. The university pioneered the studies of music therapy, packaging, hospitality business, supply chain management, and communication sciences. Home to the green and white Spartans, Michigan State competes in the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference and have won the Rose Bowl Game in 1954, 1956, 1988, and 2014, and six national football championships.
