Stainless Steel 3-Ring Combination Bit - 6" Shank with Sweet Iron Mullen Triple Barrel (MB 32-3) Copper Inlay Mouth. This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes. How it works: the 3-ring combination bit uses ve dierent pressure points to disperse rein pressure. The noseband and chin strap are connected through the purchase; when the reins are engaged, the horse rst feels the nose, chin and poll pressure before he feels the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece can slide 1" before reaching the stop, where it will engage. The overall eect is to give the horse several opportunities to respond to the riders rein signals, plus disperse the rein pressure over multiple pressure points rather than just the tongue or bars. Select the rein position most suitable for your hands. About the mouthpiece: the 32-3 is the Myler alternative to a traditional mullen. It has three barrels which turn the mouthpiece from the typical solid bar of a mullen into a exible bar which allows the horse to elevate his tongue and swallow more easily under the bit. When the reins are engaged, the 32-3 becomes a solid bar like a traditional mullen, but with an exaggerated curve. This curved bar rotates across the bars and lips down on to the tongue, applying pressure across the entire surface of the tongue. The exibility of the 32-3 makes it very forgiving and comforting when relaxed, but oers the rider control when engaged. The pressure on the tongue is distributed across all three barrels, which also create the Independent Side Movement . Because the tongue pressure applied by the 32-3 is evenly distributed across the entire tongue, this mouthpiece is considered "stronger" than the 04. However, its exibility makes it a forgiving mouthpiece that works well for horses who have suered mouth trauma or damage, or horses that tend to go behind the bit. For a ported mullen style oering more tongue relief, see the 06 or 36.
