How to determine chain size:
1. Check your chainwheel for a number stamped into the gypsy (as shown in photo). Especially if you have a Lewmar Pro-Fish or Pro-Series 1000. Look your number up on the website for your brand of windlass to verify chain size. Unsure? Shoot us a message and well help!
2. No number on the gypsy but you still have your old chain that works? Get the measuring tape. Your 5/16 chain will measure 1 1/8 across and 1 3/4 long. If your chain measures UNDER an inch across, you have 1/4 chain.
3. Youve lost all of your chain and you dont see a number on your chainwheel? If you have a windlass other than a Lewmar Pro-Series or Pro-Fish 1000, check your owners manual. If you have a Lewmar and for any other brand to be sure, we highly recommend at this point getting a small 1 section of 5/16 short link windlass chain from a marine store to make sure it fits properly in your chainwheel prior to ordering. It takes less time to do this than an exchange.

5/16" G4 High Test Hot-Dipped Short Link Galvanized Chain
3-Strand Premium Nylon Rope made by New England Ropes
Rope is hand-spliced to the chain with a tapered back splice, made to transition through your windlass smoothly. The rope is coated and heat stabilized for minimum water absorption and fiber-to-fiber abrasion. The G4 hot dipped galvanized chain is calibrated to fit windlasses with ISO short link chain wheels. The combination of premium nylon rope and G4 high-test chain is suitable for all major windlass manufacturers.
